Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple - Antarvedi

Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is situated in temple town named Antarvedi of Sakhinetipalle Mandal, positioned in the East Godavari district of the Andhra Pradesh kingdom in India. The temple is located on the area wherein the Bay of Bengal and Vashista Godavari, a tributary of the Godavari River, meet.It was constructed within the fifteenth and 16th centuries.

It was mentioned within the Brahma Purana, In Tretayuga, Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Anjaneya worshipped Narasimha at this vicinity after Killing Ravana.
In Dwaparayuga, Arjuna the Pandava king worshipped the Lord right here at some stage in his pilgrimage.
As in step with the Legends, at the beginning of Krutaya, Lord Brahma to get rid of the sins, carried out Yajna here by way of installing Lord Siva as the Yajna protector. Hence, the place got the name AntarVedi derived from Antar and Vedika.

A fisherman while fishing within the river Raktakulya, a Kurma Avatar Idol were given struck in his fishing net. He attempted lots to open the Idol treating it as a Pearl oyster, after numerous tries he began hitting with stone. He misplaced conscious while the blood oozing from the Idol. A divine voice informed him to hold this Idol on the Lords feet and perform Abhishekam day by day. As informed the fisherman kept the Idol on the Lords ft.

In Kaliyuga, A cowherd Mandapati Kesavadasu discovered the Idol while gazing the cattle noticed the Idol. Later, Reddy Kings built the temple with bamboo sticks. From the inscriptions, it is known that this temple was rebuilt by Kopanati Krishnamma of Agni Kula Kshatriya in the year 1823 A.D.

How To Reach
Antarvedi is 130 Kms from Kakinada and a hundred kms from Rajahmundry. One can reach Antarvedi both with the aid of train or with the aid of street. For those who journey by train one can either board or get down at either Rajahmundry or Narsapur. There are number of buses available from Kakinada and Rajahmundry also. Or one can board a bus at Hyderabad to Razole, whereon they can go to Malkipuram and thereto Antarvedi. Antarvedi can also be reached by boat from Narsapur, which is 112-km south of Rajahmundry.
