Dona Paula is one of the most beautiful beaches in Goa.
It is located just seven kilometers west from Panaji.
Providing a good view of the Mormugao harbor, this beach is fringed by palm trees.
The proximity of the beach to the capital city makes it a popular tourist sight.

This beach has a romantic and mysterious past.
It is said that the spirit of Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy (in colonial India), haunts the beach.
This beach is named after her.
It is said that she threw herself off the cliff when her father refused permission to marry her beloved Gaspar Dias, a local fisherman. Locals say that she is sometimes seen emerging from the waves on a moonlit night.

The Dona Paula Beach offers an opportunity to the tourists to have a sunbath and buy cheap seaside goods from local markets.
There are several shops along the beach side run by the locals who sell clothes, eatables and variety of goods.
At dona paula, Indian handicraft and jewellery are available at Indian arts emporium.

Dona Paula can be reached by availing a bus or motorcycle-taxi from Panaji or the ferry service from Mormugao. Buses to Dona Paula depart every 15 minutes from Panajis popular bus stand, Kadamba.
