Parshuram Kund is a Hindu pilgrimage centre located at the Brahmaputra plateau within the lower reaches of the Lohit River and 21 km north of Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. Dedicated to sage Parshuram, the popular site attracts pilgrims from Nepal, from throughout India, and from close by states of Manipur and Assam. Over 70,000 devotees and sadhus take a holy dip in its water each 12 months at the event of Makar Sankranti, inside the month of January.

The Legend
Legend say that Parshuram killed his mother Renuka with an axe at the behest of his father Saint Jamadagni. During this, the awl got stuck to his hands and he wandered all acorss India, touring sacred locations for atonement. But all turned into in vain. Then he got here all of the manner to the Kund wherein he took a dip and the awl came unfastened and fell down. The spot in which it fell, have become the supply of Lohit River. Since then, the Kund has been known as the Parshuram Kund.

History
The site of the Parashuram Kund as mounted through the sadhu was in existence till 1950 while the antiquesite was absolutely changed by means of the earthquake that shook the complete of the North-East and the kund turned into completely protected. A very sturdy present day is now flowing over the authentic site of the kund but big boulders have in a mysterious manner embedded themselves in a circular formation in the river bed as a result forming some other kund in location of the old.

Festivity
An annual event of the temple is known as Parshuram Mela.Held in January each year, the Mela or truthful draws devotees from various corners of the country/aboard to take a holy dip within the river.
The nearby administration initiates all forms of preparations (shelters, ration stores, medical aid, drinking water, toilets and many others.) for the crowd of devotees who go to the mela.
Colorful kiosks around the Mela make the environment extra delightful. One can see a big kind of articles in those stores.
