The Sri Ranganthaswami Temple in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India is a Hindu temple committed to Lord Ranganatha a resting shape of Lord Vishnu.This temple, also known as Talpagiri Ranganathaswami temple or Ranganayakulu is one of the oldest temples in Nellore. It is located at the banks of the Penna River and is thought to have been built within the 12th century. Just before the principle front of the temple is a big tower, called Gaaligopuram, which literally approach "wind tower". This tower is about 70 feet high and has 10 feet of gold plated vessels on top of it, referred to as kalashams. Every year throughout the month of March–April (which varies in line with the Indian calendar) a grand competition is widely known. These are referred to as Brahmotsavam.
Legend & Festivals
According to the legend, Lord Vishnu determined to visit Bhoo-loka along along with his consort Goddess Sridevi. He asked Adisesha to be the region as Lord’s domicile to stay at Bhoo -loka. Following the order of the Lord, Adisesha took the form of a mountain at this vicinity. Hence, the location is called Talpagiri Kshethra.
It is believed that saint Kashyap conducted Poundarika Yaga on Ekadasi day right here to please the Lord. At ultimate, the Lord regarded and blessed him.
Every 12 months, the festival of Sri Vari Brahmotsavam is celebrated throughout the month of March – April.Vaikunta Ekadasi has also celebrated yearly thats witnessed by means of many devotees.
