The Field Museum of Natural History owes its existence to the World’s Fair that was held in Chicago in 1893.
Originally designed as way to showcase exhibits from the Fair, the museum quickly evolved into a collection of natural history artifacts and exhibitions.
The collection was moved to its current location in Grant Park in 1921 and is part of the Museum Campus.
Exhibits range from a taxidermy collection of large animals such as African elephants to an extensive collection of Native American artifacts.
A 12 meter (40 foot) long Tyrannosaurus skeleton is the most popular exhibit out of the museum’s millions of specimens, and many visitors wouldn’t feel that their trip to Chitown is complete without viewing the dinosaur known as “Sue.”

The Chicago River is a system of rivers and canals with a combined length of 156 miles that runs through the city of Chicago, including its center.
Throughout the city and its nearby suburbs, forty-five movable bridges span the river, many of them well-known and quite picturesque. Several were also considered engineering marvels of their time, like the one at Michigan Avenue, one of the first fixed trunnion bascule bridges in the country, built in 1920.

the Fountain produces a major water display for 20 minutes every hour.
During the major display, a center jet shoots water to a height of 150 feet into the air.
Major displays begin daily at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter, every hour on the hour.
Beginning at dusk, a spectacular light and music display accompanies the major display, beginning every hour on the hour for 20 minutes.
Each evening, the final major display begins at 10:35 p.m.

The Navy Pier originally opened in 1916 as an amusement area and shipping facility but is now one of Chicago's most popular tourist attractions.
Today, the Navy Pier is made up of 50 acres of gardens, attractions, shops, restaurants, concert venues, and parks.
There is a 150 ft Ferris wheel and an historic carousel in Navy Pier Park.
Visitors can also watch a film at the 3D Imax Theater, watch actors perform the classics at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, or visit Crystal Gardens, a one-acre, six-story, indoor botanical garden.
Also located here is the Chicago Children's Museum.
The Pier hosts year-round festivities, including the Chicago Festival in August.

The western boundary of the Lincoln Park area runs along North Clybourn Avenue from West Diversey Parkway to North Avenue, while the eastern boundary runs along Lake Michigan from the same two streets.
See some 1,200 animals, from apes to zebras, at the oldest and one of only a few free zoos left in the country.
It is small, only 35 acres, but attractions like the Kovler Lion House and the Regenstein Center for African Apes pack a big punch.
The newest feature: The Regenstein Macaque Forest, where snow monkeys swing through trees and relax in a hot tub.
Lincoln Park, the namesake of the neighborhood, is by far its largest park.
The park includes amenities that you won’t find in other parks, including the Lincoln Park Zoo, Lincoln Park Conservatory, the Chicago History Museum, a nature museum, an outdoor theater, a rowing lagoon and a fitness course.
Lincoln Park also hosts the Chicago Summerfest music festival, held for one weekend in June and featuring 20 hours of live music.
